Abstract

The primary objective of the project work presented here is the definition of a master plan, which aims to offer ideas and design assumptions in order to rehabilitate from the standpoint of environmental and urban coastal area of Torre Melissa. The project was formulated on the idea of spatial and functional organization of the coast which area is squeezed between the coast and the railway network, with particular attention to relationships and how to integrate the project with the surrounding urban fabric.

The project aims to achieve quality objectives, both as a whole and in its detailed "design exercises" (defined pilot projects), characterized by a strong design sensibility, both the architecture, which that urban planning, in reference to' accessibility, protection of landscape, reuse functional open spaces and physical elements of the territory.

In the last decade, a number of reasons have affected the usability of the coast, causing you to lose that character identity that connoted, resulting in disorganized urbanization with the inevitable consequence of a poor physical, social, environmental and urban planning today so visibly present throughout the area coastal town of Torre Melissa. Additionally, the causes of erosion that arose in recent years, almost irreversibly threatened the conditions of growth and development that, despite everything, still persist, even if only found in a few isolated examples, and, thanks to its natural vocation and allow you to look to the future with confidence and optimism.
