The provence of Terra d’Otranto, due to its position, represented a crossroads between eastern and western mediterranean sea. Moreover, the area is caracterized by climatical and ambiental conditions allowing the three canonical mediterranean crops: the wheat, the olive and the grape. In this essay it will be presented a first inquiry about the diffusion and the production of the wine, trying to remark the importance of this particular manifacturing for the communities and the trades in Terra d’Otranto between XIVth and XVth centuries.
