Abstract

The financial and commercial structure of the Kingdom of Naples in the second half of the fifteenth century grew also thanks to the favourable relationship established between the ruling house and the composite world of banks operating in the South. The patronage provided by the kings was the beneficial support that ensured not only the development in the Kingdom of great firms such as Medici and Strozzi, but also favoured the local commercial component, which was included in the great currents of international trade.
