Abstract

These notes from research in progress expound shortly the difficulties and the deflections in expressing grief. By tracing the concealment closely connected with grief, they meet some passages of theories of the expression of the emotions – Darwin – and of ancient images and reflections on passions – Homer, Aristotle. In closing, these notes take some suggestions from modern ethnographic and anthropological research.
