Abstract

The article introduces the monographic section Between Historiography and Rhetoric: Perspectives in the late Middle Ages in Italy. The history of the relationships between secular cultural outline and writing of history is recalled before briefly presenting the contents of the essays that constitute the section, emphasizing the role played by the ars dictaminis in the professional background of those authors.
