Abstract

The activation of a process of management, recovery, regeneration and recycling of waste landscapes, defined as “wastescape”, represents the challenge faced within the Horizon 2020 Project “REsource Management in Peri-urban Areas: Going Beyond Urban Metabolism” (REPAiR). According to the principles of Circular Economy, wastescapes can be considered innovative resources for the regeneration of the territories in crisis, allowing a change of paradigm capable of determining multiple and different environmental, economic, social and cultural implications. Exploring synergistic approaches and techniques to face and manage change also involves considering waste that characterize wastescapes, in particular Construction and Demolition Waste, as a tool to activate new models for the sustainable and circular use of territorial resources and to identify eco-innovative, integrated and place-based development strategies.
