Project and agricultural practices of land use. Suggestions for the in-between city

Abstract

The in-between city, like the peri-urban context, is not so much a determinable topographic space as an abstraction that defines a relational character of the space (Mininni, 2012). Seen from this angle, it represents a formidable laboratory of ideas and practices in which the transformation of the urban and of the residual forms of the use of agricultural land bear the signs of the criticality that is typical of the current era but which are, at the same time, the most dynamic and vital. The use of this term refers, moreover, to some of the key concepts of the contemporary urban lexicon (Third Landscape, Stim & Dross, Drosscape, Urban Countryside etc.) that, looking to a complementarity between urban planning and agriculture, appear very useful for addressing certain issues that the current state of the discipline poses. To conclude, the author argues that this complementarity must be looked at from the viewpoint of the project, assuming one’s point of view with clarity and directing one’s actions accordingly.
