Abstract

This article describes some models of architectural and urban planning culture applied to the creation of scenarios of the city of the future. One line of thought comes from the entreaties of technics and from a faith in progress and tends to accentuate the role of technological innovations. A second line of thought comes from reflection on the needs of public health and the correct ecological relationship between the city and its context. A third line of thought has to do especially with the creation of new architectural forms and it arrives at prefixing a “better” city for the very idea of the revolutionary progress of the elementary component parts of urban space.  A synthetic analysis of the projects presented at the Grand Paris (2009) seems to demonstrate the return of the interpretative guidelines already discussed.
