The State Archives of Siena preserve 27 unpublished letters, written by Aeneas Sylvius Piccolomini to the governors of Siena between 1455 and 1458, when Piccolomini acted as ambassador at the court of pope Callixtus III. This work presents an analysis of the contents and style of the corpus and an attempt to situate it in relation to Piccolomini’s biography and literary production.
