Abstract

The monastery of Saint Lawrence in Panisperna, founded by Card. Giacomo Colonna for the Poor Clares in 1308, is one of the most important religious places of medieval Rome. There is extensive archival material, especially on the properties of the monastery. This article offers a survey, primarily on papal documents, obtaining some indications of the monastery and the women's community. Finally it summarizes the current situation of the monastery space, which should be made more accessible to scholars and to the public.
