Abstract

History, especially if intended as a "science", has often been used to support ideological and patriotic claims. Such use was also evident on the occasion of the foundation of the Società Storica Friulana (1911), whose origins and protagonists are studied here in comparison to what happened in the neighboring regions: Veneto, Trentino, Venezia Giulia, Carinthia and Tyrol.
