Abstract

The contribution analyzes the main evolutionary traits of the Italian form of government, as reshaped, in the most recent developments, by its different forms. Having dissolved some essential conventional rules (rules of which the work offers a careful domestic reconstruction), which had oriented the relations between constitutional bodies for long phases of the democratic experience, the parties, dominators of the formation of this type of rules since the foundation of the Republic, do not seem to have yet regained full control. As a result, the role of the President of the Republic has been strengthened, free from some of the constraints coming from the party context; on the scene also appears an unprecedented formant: the Constitutional Court, which redefines, with its pronouncements, some of the essential features of the electoral rules.
