The essay invites to read the book edited in 2010 by Maura Striano, Pratiche educative per l’inclusione sociale, focalising some international and European initiatives aimed at promoting lifelong learning interventions addressed to “weak” categories of peoples. Compared to these, is the adoption of a gender perspective, according to which the limited recognition of the rights of citizenship of women in terms of education, employment status and political participation is linked to symbolic discrimination of a culture called “universal”, but deeply rooted in male values.
