Abstract

INTEGRATED APPROACHES OF INCLUSIVE DESIGN, ACTIVE DESIGN, SAFETY AND SECURITY FOR THE PUBLIC SPACE IN THE POST-COVID 19 PHASE

The health and social emergency, and the consequent containment have strengthened the fundamental role that public places play in promoting psycho-physical and social wellbeing, showing the urgency to envision new healthy ways of use and consequent spatial connotations for the post-pandemic phase. The paper attempts to act in the direction of improving health, safety and free use by eliminating all forms of barriers (physical, perceptive, social) to make cities that are inclusive, healthier and safer, capable of encouraging the adoption of active lifestyles by all people. The paper makes a comparison between the Inclusive Design Approach, the Active Design Approach and the Safety and Security Approach to identify points of contact and strategies for the promotion of a healthy city.
