THE POTENTIALITIES OF MARGINAL AREAS INSIDE URBANMOUNTAIN SYSTEMS : THE CASE OF MIDDLE SUSA VALLEY
Urban and mountain are no longer extremes of the Alpine territory. Actually, urban and
mountain become parts that contribute to the configuration of a plural territory, in which
central and marginal areas play a role in the geometry of this assembly. In this direction, the
contribution intends to highlight how traditional dichotomy centre-periphery could be
unhinged in the Alpine context and through which ways of re-readings could descend
innovative territorial configurations able to activate underlying potentialities. The
contribution intends to reflect on the connections between central and marginal areas in a
framework of territorial regeneration. In order to illustrate the issue proposed, the
contribution analyzes contents and results of a training experience of territorial regeneration
carried on in the metro-mountain territory of middle Susa valley.
