Abstract

BEYOND THE ‘NON-COHESION’. TOWARDS AUTONOMOUS, NONFRAGILE AND CO-EVOLUTIONARY COHESION POLICIES

The paper proposes a reflection on some issues considered fundamental for the evolution (and of the evolution) of territorial cohesion policies. The first issue concerns the “original”
nature of such policies, in relation to their similarity to the Italian “territorial rebalancing” policies of the late sixties, early seventies of the twentieth century. The second issue refers
to the interpretation of the EU place-based approach, in relation to the possibilities of a non-mainstream re-interpretation of the same. A third and final issue concerns the human
species/environment dualism, which still strongly connotes the multilevel territorial cohesion policies, in relation to the possibility of considering on the contrary the territory as
a co-evolutionary neo-ecosystem.
Keywords: territorial cohesion, place-based, coevolution
