Abstract

OPERATIONAL STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPMENT AND
RESILIENCE OF INNER AREAS: THE RI.P.R.O.VA.RE PROJECT
Abstract
The contribution deals with the issue of inner areas, focusing on both the initiatives
implemented to date for their “re-centralization” and the objectives and contents of a research
project, recently funded by Ministry of the Environment and Land and Sea Protection, titled
“Re-inhabiting Countries. Operational Strategies for the Enhancement and Resilience of
Inner Areas “(RI.P.R.O.VA.RE). In line with the Strategic Choice III, included in the Planet
Area of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development (SNSVs), this Project, with
reference to the inner areas located in two Regions of Southern Italy (Campania and
Basilicata), aims at outlining criteria for classifying and bordering these areas, methods and
tools to evaluate and strengthen their resilience as well as integrated development strategies
capable of combining enhancement of citizenship services, risk reduction, regeneration and
enhancement of local resources.
