Abstract

The paper investigates methodologies of representation and fruition of a temporary or permanent mise en scène, that involves visual and performing arts as powerful activators of urban regeneration forms.
We explore the geometrical and spatial configurations of contexts at different scales, but also their aesthetics, described by the various possible narrations that also arise from specific visual and multimedia communication design, to understand their effects upon the social dynamics.
The case studies here presented show how the ‘functionality’ of the urban intervention depends on the ‘fictionality’ of a pervasive image, constructed and disseminated in order to satisfy the desire of the potential user, even only to recall its fleeting presence.
