Abstract

Solero is a small town in the province of Alessandria which has witnessed more than one thousand years of farming life, leaving untouched its formative and transformational mould. It is a place which has more to tell about the immediate past than its remote past, which looks at the present with a view to the future. The language that defines Solero isplain, straightforward, authentic but not poor, without rhetorical euphemisms, where traditional architecture is not the protagonist but rather the farmhouse in its typical evolution, which expresses the use of domestic and unborn space. Its original settlement shows signs of its progressive stratification adding to the traditional material characteristics the spiritual ones of its memories, enlivened by famous people and outstanding deeds, which become expression of a culture and a civilization worthy of being lived and transmitted
