Abstract

In the Brescian school of urban planning for over two decades serious attention has been given to improving the quality of life, which are the wellsprings of the environmental themes as well as those based on the safety of society. The triad environment, safety and society lead to a reflection on the richness and centrality of the concept “place”. For this purpose the doctor in philosophy in “places and times of the city and of the outlying areas” has acquired a formation and competence in architectural and urban planning with a spatio-temporal and interdisciplinary approach, intended to evaluate urban quality based on a balanced combination of integrated values.
