Abstract

This article highlights the criteria for the elaboration of the database Rulers of Venice that U.S. historian Benjamin Kohl conceived out of the data in the archives of the Segretario alle voci, an office of the Republic of Venice. It also relies on a few case studies to exemplify how such a database works.
