Abstract

Died prematurely in 1997, Vito Fumagalli was born 59 years before in Bardi, a castle in the high Val Ceno located between the today provinces of Parma and Piacenza, near the Apennine mountain pass that leads to Liguria. Medievalist of international reputation and culture, however, he devoted ever, in the course of his research, a specific focus to its land of origin and his village, as it possible to understand easily from his numerous studies which see players such places, with an approach that fits their events in the general history and that, at the same time, uses the results of research in the local draft to draw solid overview of the european Early Middle Ages.
