Abstract

The article deals with some aspects of the system of production, control and conservation of the provinces’ charters during the first Angevin age, with a special regard to the giustizierato. Through the analysis of the charters produced to control fiscal resources, and the written records derived from the procedures of inquiring, the article tackles the problematic relation between the different ways and reasons of selecting the now surviving sources, and the real improvement of the charters’ production to control the provinces of the reign after Charles 1st arrival.
