The essays gathered in this special issue examine Paolo Rosso's synthesis La scuolo nel Medioevo. Secoli VI-XV, as concerns it's overall characteristics as well as by considering two main aspects: school and teaching in the High Middle Ages and the history of the University. A brief reply by the author of the volume ensues.
