Abstract

This paper aims to highlight some of the different interpretative levels of inventories. It draws inspiration from the discovery, at Archivio di Stato di Genova, of the inventories of the relics kept in the sacristy of the no longer extant convent of San Domenico at the end of the fifteenth century. This heritage is remarkable not only because of its devotional meaning: its origin is mostly related to naval war events, and its preservation underscores its civic (and therefore collective) importance.
