Abstract

Sandro Carocci’s important monograph Signorie di Mezzogiorno, published in 2014, invites us to reflect on the long-term history of Southern Italy between the Middle Ages and the Early Modern age. It further solicits comparative observations on the transformation of the rural seigneuries in the Late Middle Ages in north-central Italy and in Europe.
