Abstract

This article offers some reflections about Pier Silverio Leicht’s position in the context of medieval italian studies. Leicht (1874-1956) belonged to the great generation of historians and law historians born in the Seventies of 19th century, but he maintained a specific profile as an historian of legal institutions. Two aspects are particularly investigated: 1) The thought of Leicht on relationship between Germanic legal traditions and Roman law; 2) His contributions on feudalism, Communes and guilds, which are significantly distant from those of Gioacchino Volpe.
