Abstract

Milan’s documentary heritage created between the 12th and the 13th century is to be found by searching the records of the administrative offices and religious institutions that regularly had dealings with it. The aim of this paper is to examine some of these records anew, particularly evaluating the evolution of the constants and variables that have strongly influenced their creation and preservation over time.
