Abstract

The increasingly recurrent use of the term urban landscape prompts us to clarify the difference that exists between landscape and city, particularly in relation to their historical dialectic, on which Rosario Assunto had also written in his well-known publications. The contribution is the outcome of a lectio magistralis given on 25 October 2018 in Naples, on the occasion of the 8th international conference The Other City, promoted by the Interdepartmental Research Centre on the Iconography of the European City of the University of Naples Federico II.
