Abstract

The birth of photography is strictly linked to the representation of the landscape but, once the phase of “pictorialism” has been overcome, this relationship oscillates between the desire to document reality and the subjective gaze, i.e. between a more illustrative and a hermeneutic approach. Although it is clear that each shot represents a personal vision, also thanks to the influence of contemporary art, the photographic representation of the landscape gradually becomes more evocative, giving up on proposing “veristic” images of the landscape.
