The epidemiological emergency once again shows the limits of the European Union, which emerged clearly during the economic and financial crisis. This essay, after reconstructing the context in which the health emergency has exploded and the measures taken so far by the European Institutions to deal with it, focuses on the issues that emerged following the recent ruling of the Bundesverfassungsgericht and reflects on the perspectives of the European Union.
