Abstract

First of all, the essay aims to analyze whether and how the diffusion of social media on digital platform, understood as a new space for the formation of political consensus, can aggravate the already profound crisis gripping contemporary representative democracies and political parties. Secondly, we will reflect on whether it is possible to identify general tools for regulating a phenomenon that is still firmly in the hands of Big Tech Societies and dominated by forms of private self-regulation, which risk compressing fundamental constitutional rights
