In the current European context, the main social and economic indicators suggest that self- employed workers of foreign origins are an important part of small and medium-sized enterprises. Immigrants that are established in European countries generally have a greater capacity to business creation than the average of the native population. Starting from these premises, this paper aims to explore this phenomenon through a multidisciplinary reading key, analyzing the legal and procedural aspects, especially for what concerns the condition of non-European foreigner. Through the analysis of the connection between entrepreneurship, migration and development, the study pretends to detect any critical issues in the access to self-employment, also trying to understand if this way may represent a possible integration of migrants and a current issue for a local community development.
