Abstract

This article investigates the connection between sexual difference and textuality in the work of Hélène Cixous and Jacques Derrida. Although the study of reading processes has gained a crucial importance, both in human and social sciences research fields, it is still difficult to find a theory of reading which could be accountable for the experience of sexual difference. My aim is to show how Cixous and Derrida read the sexual difference, instead of defining the essence of it. The conclusions will point out the importance of autobiographical practices as performative readings of sexual differences.
