Abstract

Having assumed that language is one of the most powerful tools used by patriarchal society, this paper describes how the second wave feminist theory has tried to concretely produce a huge amount of feminist writings as a form of resistance against chauvinist language. Indeed, some examples of their written creations will be provided to underline all the difficulties which arise in translating these texts also.

Some limits of this feminist theorization will be mentioned. Consecutively, we will try to display how the so-called queer transfeminist translation has tried to solve the holes left by previous theories .In order to do this, this paper will show the peculiarities and the forms of resistance included in the lgbitq* language with particular attention to the linguistic phenomenon called Gender Bendering, Gender Queer and Degendering. Furthermore, an explanation will be provided which concerns how a certain discourse that has melded together Translation and Gender Studies is still important as a tool for the emergence of lbgitq* non binary identities.
In conclusion, through the example of Virginia’s Woolf Orlando e Santiago Silva’s Stella Manhattan, we will try to show the difficulties in maintaining non-normative subjectivities through translation.
