Abstract

The idea of the drawing up of this article is born as a result of the publication of the Convention’s act of the SISS (Italian Society of historians of Sport) of Florence of 9-10 May 2014 entitled “Lo Sport alla Grande Guerra”. This production wants to analyze the transformations of the body male and female following the outbreak of the first world war. These transformations are found to the new order social and economic, the change of fashion, the evolution of sporting competitions that war entailed. This analysis has benefited from photo sources, testimony of athletes-military and sports newspapers, journalistic Chronicles of the time.

Francesco Muollo, Università degli studi di Napoli Federico II

Francesco Muollo is a phd of gender studies at university of Naples, Federico II. His research have included the gender studies with attention to the relationship between body and nation. Currently he is a memeber of SISS (Società Italiana Storia dello Sport) and the SISCALT (Società Italiana Storici Contemporanei di Area di Lingua Tedesca).
