Abstract

The paper proposes some reflections on the effects of Covid-19 on women in Italy, focusing on some priorities of the Istanbul Convention, in particular domestic violence and gender equality, offering some data on ceiling glass effects and reproductive work (and health). The paper shows that before the pandemic, (concrete) actions to contrast violence and gender inequality were largely insufficient. But it shows also that pandemic risks to increase (gender) inequalities. The paper ends by emphasizing the emancipatory and transformative potential for the whole society of an intersectional and gender perspective; moreover it stresses the role that feminist associations are playing during the pandemic, and their capacity to offer useful indications for the post-emergency to rethink reproductive work and togetherness policies.
