Abstract

This contribution examines how the debate about sexual exploitation in migrant women has been conceptualized mostly through the dichotomy between the need to combat human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation (anti-trafficking) vs. the recognition of sex workers as agents who are able to choose and act in pro of their own benefit (pro-sex work). This book contends that such debate disregards a high degree of segmentation in the phenomenon. Current analysis toward sexual exploitation in migrant women therefore need reconsideration through the lenses of migration and gender-based violence.
