Abstract

Outspoken by Julia Serano, published in 2016, is a collection of 48 short essays which retrace the period between 2002 and 2014, weaving the personal journey of the author with key moments in transgender and feminism activism in the US. The book chronicles the last decade of trans feminist activism, analyzing the social dynamics that grant privileges to certain identities, as well as to the internal disparities present in LGBTQ communities.

Maria Chiara Ferro, Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II

Maria Chiara Ferro has an MA in Historical Sciences from the University of Naples Federico II, with a thesis in Gender History, and is currently a PhD candidate at the same university, in the programme Mind, Gender and Languages.
