Abstract

This review presents the volume edited by Giorgia Margherita, Anoressie Contemporanee. Dal digiuno ascetico al blog Pro-Ana, which analyzes, in a psychodynamic and gender perspective, the phenomenon of Pro-Ana blogs as a new kind of “virtual group-sharing” of the anorexic condition among teenagers. The book discusses the problematic issues of the anorexic condition and highlights the special role that self-narrative assumes in the construction of gender, particularly in a virtual environment where bodies are de-materialized and relationships cancel the closeness. The volume includes contributions by Adele Nunziante Cesàro, Anna Zurolo, Valentina Boursier, Anna Gargiulo, Valentina Manna and Ivana Nuzzo.
