The book review shall examine the work Comunità omosessuali. Le scienze sociali sulla popolazione LGBT (Homosexual community. The social sciences on the LGBT population), Fabio Corbisiero (ed.), offering a detailed survey of the points of view expressed by various disciplines on issues related to LGBT people’s identity and rights in a heterosexist society. It is highlighted the critical and proactive approach with which the male and female authors of the fifteen essays in the volume analyze homosexuality as a plural condition, spread and mobile of the human existence. What that is exceeded in the theory and practice is the dichotomous homosexuality/ heterosexuality principle which for long time structured the social knowledge, ensuring an effective instrument of control and social order. Nowadays, the instance that is imposed on the planes of the knowledge and reality is that of a necessary "pluralization", without which it can’t be guaranteed a true citizenship to people and homosexual communities.
