Abstract

SYNERGIES BETWEEN AREA STRATEGY AND STRUCTURAL CHOICES FOR A LOCAL AREA OF INTERVENTION OF THE “REVENTINO SAVUTO”

In recent decades the Italian inner areas have undergone a gradual and progressive process of marginalization. To reverse this trend and to define effective transformations of the settlement and infrastructural structures of the territory, the choices of urban planning, especially the structural ones, must be geared to the exploitation of the unexpressed heritage represented by local tangible and intangible resources. The authors identify the Municipal Structural Plan as the most appropriate tool to support the National Strategy for Inner Areas (called SNAI). To support this position, the local experience on one of the
Municipalities included in the Calabrian project area “Reventino Savuto” will demonstrate how synergies between the SNAI Area Strategy and structural choices of the Plan are the key to setting a new phase of territorial development.
