Abstract

PLATFORM SPACES: CULTURE, TERRITORIAL APPROACHES AND SOCIAL INNOVATION
Abstract
This contribution provides an overview and a conceptual discussion on an emerging model of cultural enterprise that we call Platform Spaces. We believe that Italy is recently experiencing a particularly rich period in the development of creative cultural activities based largely on social innovation, both in terms of management of the organization and its relationship with territorial development, therefore we consider this a relevant context where we can frame this new model. Through a non systematic literature review, the analysis of the Italian context, and the description of three different examples of Platform Spaces, this contribution highlights and discusses possible synergies among cultural activities and community engagement. We conclude identifying in Platform Spaces a model to ensure not only the accessibility in the cultural services provided, but also the achievement of territorial development objectives.
