REGENERATION, SUSTAINABILITY, CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT AND URBAN ACUPUNCTURE EXPERIMENTATIONS
Abstract
“The right to the city” (New Urban Agenda, 2016) and fighting climate change (Paris Agreement, 2015) seem to have defined, at the global and national level, a turning point in the policies and strategies concerning cities. In this regard, the paper illustrates a sustainable regeneration process set up to respond to a H2020 call which, in the absence of funding, is transformed into a low cost process. The change in financial availability did not result in changes to the guiding vision of the research: an ecological city model based on conviviality and on the use of digital tools aimed at improving citizen awareness and empowerment by using PPGIS and Citizen Science techniques. As a matter of fact, Horizon 2020 represented an excellent stress-test to trigger visions and planning and to deal with the an intense local reality.
