From a disciplinary perspective of Urban History, the essay reconstructs the history of material and in-shape modifications of the South-East slope of Mt. Echia in Naples, known as Pizzofalcone, inside the historical city centre, to highlight the morphological aspects concerning the vulnerability to the risk and at the same time the identity of the place. Critical condition of fronts stability and complexity in building have strongly affected infrastructural and architectural forms, so as to become identifying signs of the place. This singularity is valued as a resource. The essay introduces an ongoing research that, through intersection between History of Architecture and Geology, aims to provide a reconstruction of historical retaining walls and landslides, useful for a urban regeneration able to cross adaptation to geological vulnerability and respect for the identity of the place.
