The rural territory of Turin, which played an important economic and political role until the last century, still shows traces of a rural structure consolidated between the Seventeenth and Eighteenth centuries.
This article aims to investigate the case of Cascina Roccafranca, located in the Mirafiori district of Turin, analysing the theme of reuse and functional recovery of abandoned buildings and areas, through innovative models of financing and governance, capable of generating positive social and environmental impacts. Cascina Roccafranca represents a significant example as it follows an innovative management model, plays a role as a centre of social and relational life recognized by the citizens and is part of a synergic system on a local scale that deals with the redevelopment of the suburbs.
