HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE FOR THE EVALUATION OF ECCLESIASTICAL CULTURAL HERITAGE VULNERABILITIES: A SYSTEMIC APPROACH FOR VALORISATION AND REGENERATION STRATEGIES.

Abstract

Preliminary and accurate evaluation of the security and the vulnerability of ecclesiastical cultural heritage is required before start develop reuse and regeneration strategies. This is ever more important in Italy that is subject to several kind of risks (seismic, hydrogeological, landslides, etc.). In addition to the technical analyses, historical knowledge on territory and buildings play a fundamental role in the evaluation of vulnerabilities. This contribute shows first results of a research program about the development of strategies for the large-scale evaluation of vulnerabilities of churches. With the aim to obtain a useful conservation and valorisation of cultural heritage, the application and implementation of these methodologies allow to elaborate a support tool for the management and activity planning for regeneration and reuse of churches.
