Circular regenerations for a sustainable urban metabolism
The increased awareness of the role of natural resources in achieving urban resilience requires new technical and planning policies to apply effective approaches for the regeneration of the existing built heritage. In this context, the research applies the concepts of Urban Metabolism and Urban Mining (UM) in order to define a proposed planning strategies for the management of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) flows through the territory. The research is set within the national technical-legal context and in particular focuses on the peri-urban areas, which is identified as a field of study by the Eco Regen1 research. The contribution investigates, specifically, the aspects related to the life cycle of the built environment, implementing the urban regeneration project with processes for the CDW flows management, with the aim to develop local supply chains through the designation of eco-districts.
