Abstract

Post-covid scenarios for the city and inland areas

The health emergency that has globally affected all sectors of our Country has highlighted several problems and critical issues in our system affecting cities with particular regard to relational spaces in the inextricable relationship with time and the identity of places. The pandemic has taught us that our development model is an outdated model in multiple respects and at the same time harmful to the environment. The time has come to act, to think about new development models that are resilient and efficient, based on the principles of environmental and social sustainability, urban regeneration, circular economy, protection of the natural territory, fighting land consumption, and redevelopment of the huge, unsustainable and energy-intensive public and private real estate and urban heritage. The city in recent years has seen its equilibrium change as a result of metropolization phenomena that have led to the dissolution of public space and the production of places of degradation and marginality affecting urban centers and inland areas of the Country. This contribution aims to explore propositional spaces for the elaboration of useful design directions.
