MIP-IT: Identificazione delle metafore linguistiche in italiano. Una proposta preliminare tra questioni teoriche e problemi pratici

Abstract

This contribution aims to discuss the main practical problems in applying MIP, a metaphor identification procedure in discourse, to the Italian language. In addition to describing  the crucial steps behind the development of the first annotation model (MIP) and its extension (MIPVU), this work provides a set of rigorous and proper guidelines useful for identifying linguistic metaphors in Italian (MIP-IT). While aligning with MIP and, albeit partially, MIPVU, these guidelines consider the specific application context and are therefore based on the grammatical and linguistic peculiarities of Italian. Moreover, this work presents an example of the practical application of MIP-IT as a corollary to the reported issues faced during the theoretical reflection proposed herein.
